KCER Promotes Hurricane Preparedness for the Kidney Community

The Kidney Community Emergency Response (KCER) Coalition will be exhibiting a booth at the 2008 National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida, March 31 through April 4; and at the Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, May 12-16.

These events are vital to ensure preparedness for the kidney community. KCER provides educational materials so that local emergency management can identify and assist their kidney patients and providers in disaster preparedness. Patients and providers must also prepare for hurricanes. For information on dialysis and kidney transplant preparedness, visit www.kidney.org/help or your local End Stage Renal Disease Network.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to November 30. Hurricanes and tropical storms can cause wind damage, flooding, extended power outages, and shortages in supplies. Are you prepared?
